I honestly think A Very Large Expanse of Sea is the best book I’ve reviewed on my blog so far. It is heart-breaking yet full of hope and forgiveness, and I haven’t felt that in a young adult novel before. It is picturesque and incredibly written, nothing but the best from Mafi. The plot and subject matter is heavy, but important. Let’s get into it!  Going into this book I knew I would love it because I had read Mafi’s other book series, Shatter Me….Continue Reading “A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh Mafi”

It’s tea time ladies, because My Plain Jane by Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows and Brodi Ashton, is not all that it’s hyped up to be. This novel is written in the third point of view with chapters from the three main characters.  My Plain Jane has been marketed as a comedic historical fiction retelling of some sorts, following Jane Eyre, Charlotte Brontë, and Alexander Blackwood. So it sounds super fun and interesting, right? Well, it’s not that it wasn’t fun but it really wasn’t that…Continue Reading “My Plain Jane by Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows, Brodi Ashton”

Book Release Tuesday: March 5 Last week, The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon was released. A new, awesome feminist fantasy novel with dragons. I was (and still am) super excited about this release, but I didn’t think it deserved it’s own post. This week, 3 exciting books come out that I think a lot of people would enjoy because, surprisingly a lot of people don’t like 800 page high fantasy novels… weird.  The first, and most popular release is Daisy Jones and…Continue Reading “Book Release Tuesday: March 5”

The novel that I just finished reading was The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand. Warning: this book is super sad, I cried at least 3 times, so if that isn’t your style, maybe read a different review.  This book follows Lex and her struggle coming to terms with her brother, Tyler, committing suicide. Yeah… it’s sad. Lex loses her friends and boyfriend because she wasn’t ready to open up about her feelings, and is all alone in this battle because her mother…Continue Reading “The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand”

Magic, romance, alternate Londons, and a really cool jacket. That is how I would describe this incredible trilogy. It has everything a novel needs. Political intrigue, a really intricate and cool magic system, two amazing main characters, and three whole books for a reader to fall in love. It’s amazing. If you are not sold yet, here is a more in-depth description.  The first novel, A Darker Shade of Magic, starts this journey by introducing Kell, one of the main characters of the trilogy. Now…Continue Reading “Shades of Light trilogy by V.E Schwab”
